Who pays attention to their 'inner seasons?'
No idea what I'm talking about? Hopefully your mind is about to be blown.

As a women I know first hand I try to multitask all month long, every day I expect to have a certain level of energy and happiness and find myself frustrated when I don't meet those expectations of myself. However, since learning and leaning into my own body I have discovered that the above simple isn't possible due to the cyclical nature of our bodies.
The shifts in Estrogen, Progesterone and Testosterone all affect our mood, our energy levels and our concentration and libido.
Knowing what inner season you are in can help you manage your month and days better, help empower you to be successful & not get so frustrated with yourself. Knowing what essential oils to pair with your inner seasons are a wonderful tool to support your hormones during those different changes.
Inner Winter
Mensuration
These are days 1 through 7 when hormone levels are at an all time low. In winter on the outside we see animals hibernate and things start to slow down and rest. Women tend to be more quiet and less social, use this time to turn inward and focus on self love and reflection. Some wonderful oils to use during this time are Peppermint and citrus oils to boost the mood, Frankincense for grounding and Copaiba or PanAway for menstrual pains.
Inner Spring
Building Weeks / Follicular phase
Our energy levels are higher, our Estrogen is starting to come back so we are brighter. The world around us is starting to bloom again and animals create homes and nests. We are at our most creative during this time, tend to be more driven and motivated. A great time to focus on a new challenge and feel the energy flow back into the body. some helpful oils for this season would be Valor, Stress Away, Joy or any high frequency oil.
Inner Summer
Ovulation
Our basal body temperature increases which matches the heat of summer, Estrogen is high and Testosterone peaks. This is where our energy is highest for the month and is a great time to communicate with others. This is when we feel most playful and carefree, sexy and social. Nature natural increases our libido during this phase so we are ripe for implantation, such a fascinating natural curve! Oils to reach for during this time are Ylang Yang, Idaho blue Spruce and Endoflex.
Inner Autumn
Pre-menstration or Luteal Phase
This is our winding down phase, getting ready to hibernate for winter again after all the fun we have had in the previous two seasons. As trees prepare to shed their leaves so do we prepare to shed our uterine lining (if we are not pregnant of course). Lining is thickening and hormones are decreasing. We tend to be details orientated during this time, can crave time alone and be a little edgy. Libido drops and hunger increases. About 9 days after our ovulation our corpus lute the gland responsible for producing progesterone -stops. This major drop is a big reason why as women we tend to feel the worst during this phase. This is the time to use those hormones support oils like Progesterone Plus, Clary Sage, Dragon Time, Ylang Ylang, Lavender and Sacred Mountain.
Then we get ready to do it all over again the following month! Just like the natural world we are never ending and always shifting into a different season. I have found that trying to understand my inner seasons helps me dramatically in how I manage work, social gatherings and my mood in general. How wonderful it is that we need look no further than into the sky and trees to be promoted and reminded of the changes going on within our own bodies and minds.
I hope this connects you again to nature today.
