The natural home

home is our sanctuary

and you are the gatekeeper

emma-56.jpg

We expect to face a number of environmental toxins as we go about our daily lives as a given in our current world.  Pollution, mould, air quality are all things outdoors we don't have much, if any control over.  Our homes however are one of the very few spaces in our modern day world we get to be the gatekeepers of.    A powerful and incredibly meaningful role, not to be taken lightly.  Creating a healthier, natural home is something I have become very passionate about, please reach out for direction or support.

What if I told you our indoor air quality was worse than that of outside?

It comes down to what is being used in the home, a confined space.  A place seemingly filled with products and items to bring value to our lives & offer health and peace of mind.

Fragrance is a word you will learn so much about in your lowtox journey, if this is the first you are reading of it - pay attention. This ingredient listing isn't your friend.

The health issues linked to fragrance is staggering.  Up to 12,500 different ingredients fall under the umbrella term.  Across multiple research studies the chemicals used to make fragrance are linked to asthma, migraines, allergies and sinus problems.  A shocking 75% have been linked to cancer, infertility, pregnancy loss and birth defects.  Takeaway - fragrances are highly toxic.

the hidden culprits

Our traditional cleaners and disinfectants have been linked to multiple health problems ranging from asthma & hormones disruption to respritory/carcinogenic issues.  They contain ingreidents such as Chlorine bleach, Lysol, Phthalates, Triclosan, Boric acid, Formaldehyde, Parabens, SLS etc.  Some of which are banned in some countries. The federal government does not require ingredient disclosure or safety testing by manufacturers of cleaning products. Your cheap sparkly cleaner is doing more harm than good, not only to your families health but to the environment too.

The most common offenders within the home start with your chemical cleaners, we then need to address all the items containing artificial fragrance.  You might be surprised just how much this group of harmful chemicals are impacting your hormonal health and general wellbeing.

 - Air fresheners (this includes car fresheners, reed diffusers, even diffusing 'fake' essential oils)

 - Plug in's (a real shocker, never allow these into your home)

 - Candles (even soy, there are some great natural candle makers out there to be found)

 - Your personal care products (this includes things like soaps, washes, makeup, baby items, skincare and haircare)

 - Perfume and Cologne (a hard one to let go of, yet so many organic natural options to choose from nowdays)

 - Your washing detergent (what we wash out clothes in stays with us all day and night, choosing a fragrance free brand is very important)

I guarantee, if you and your family can start by removing and swapping these items out to less toxic options you will feel immensely better overall, especially people suffering with asthma, eczema and headaches.

As a homeopath, anyone embarking on a health or fertility journey with me will get a good run down of how these culprits really make an impact.  Head to the D.I.Y section of this website for some excellent recipes for swapping out nasty products as soon as today.
